ENGLISH VERSION
In my small town in Colorado everyone carries weapons openly. Rarely any violence takes place, folks seem to understand that respect to others keeps it nice and peaceful.
Nevertheless we were part of that syndrome that states, "small town ,big hell".
Go figure why never anything happened there, and the boredom bred anxiety that fed specially on the youth in this armpit of the universe.
With news of mass killings taking place throughout the whole country, the government expressed concern about the population's right to bear arms, and when all of this was going on arms sales increased out of control. I remember a weapon's fair that came to town, they just about sold out. With so many of the locals together in one spot, the conversations derived into the subject of what a boring place it was to live there, one thing led to another, and before you knew what, we had all split into combat units similar to the ones that play paintball, only big difference that we had real firepower and willing to end it only when there was one last man standing.
As all hell broke loose, the explosions roared out the song of the beast of insatisfaction that was sick of it all.
The last thing I remembered is dying inside an ambulance, as I still held on to the thought that we had never had so much fun before.
Now it's all over the press that weapon's don't kill people, but it's people that kill others.
Why is humanity afraid of an unarmed world?
Could it not be possible that the bussiness of war be replaced by a bussiness of peace?
Not while the minorities with powerful interests still rule.

PARANOIA. micro.
ENGLISH VERSION.
He was not paranoid at all ,but he did place a dummy with his likeness, sitting by his office window, and one morning he found it riddled with bullets.
Although he was not paranoid, he was careful to switch any drink they served him and had lived to see three persons drop down poisoned.
He did not feel followed by anyone, but just in case, he kept looking behind , and this got him out of harm's way on two occasions.
By now he had sought shelter at a Cartussian monastery. And even on the only day of the year they were allowed to speak, he would keep to himself. It was not paranoia, just the simple fact that you can't trust anyone nowadays.

The Pisa tower started leaning a few milimeters more each day. The authorities decided not to close it down for repairs, because incoming tourism significantly increased, with everyone coming in to post their pictures on facebook with the biggest leaning angle. It finally colapsed bludgeoning a line of people waiting for their turn. Now no one goes there. The reconstruction works turned into a slow boring event, and rumors are they will not ever accomplish the previous leaning position .

TRAUMA. © Carlos de la Parra. Version ESPAÑOL. and ENGLISH Version, scroll down.

As the wedding banquet transpired, while his bride paused for a visit to the ladies room , the groom waited by the full wall acquarium that decorated the ballroom, and he could not avoid noticing that all the fish stared at him with an air of distrust. But fish have always stared that way. Perhaps aware of their place in the food chain, what else could they do.
His thoughts travelled to a few hours ago, when the bride's father , who also happened to be the president of his country; a dictator popularly known as "The Almighty", showed up in the rehab center where he committed his own daugther to the care of himself, Doctor Mammarius. The strongman practically ordered him to marry the girl so she would now become his problem. Villains keep washing their hands long after Pontius Pilate.
His own soon to be father in law arranged his farewell with his beloved female boxing champ, by lending him a private train car in the local subway to avoid the drama in a hotel room.
And he also remembered how he loved her goodbye dressed in his groom's penguin suit and the girl in her boxing gear from the gym. Right there on the subway'train's floor they unleashed their frustration through sex.
The bride emerged from the ladies room escorted by her female guards who made sure she didn't powder her nose with the same stuff the bridesmaids snorted. Now they went back to the dance floor where all the guests celebrated. He recognized many of them as his patients in the rehab center. They all referred to him as the zookeeper.

The five individuals who came to hire him as a guide to the border at the place where he was staying with a family in a remote village in Afghanistan had the virtue of a promise to be the kind of company that turns out to be a pain in the ass. And they were. Unfortunately he needed the money both for his trip back to California and to leave some funds for the group that had sheltered him during his stay.
They whined against his up front pay and about him bringing along his pet wolf. But he demanded his way or the highway and they accepted. As if five packed into a Land Rover were not enough discomfort now they travelled six and a wolf.
He was right in evaluating his fellow travellers as the customers from hell. They were constantly being disrespectful in to the point that he would occasionaly had to punch a face, these instances being bruttishly celebrated by all merrily. Such was their social standard.
At the last checkpoint before the border, he saw that the guard on duty was a russian named Vassily, who had vowed to kill him next time they met, all stemming from a dispute over a woman in Cuba a few years ago.
Vassily raised his rifle and Ernie sicked the wolf on him wich resulted in the russian loosing his throat and his life simultaneously. He would have been better off playing russian roulette on that day, needless to say.
The guys in the group helped to dump the body in a volcano's crater.
After he led them past the border he travelled by train to the nearest port and shipped back home to California.
He deeply enjoyed being back in San Francisco, he was even getting along well with his mother, hardly ever arguing with her. She had changed so much, she had become a great cook, and had stopped being critical of him. Before he left she would go for his jugular like a rabid snake at the least excuse.
He figured time changes people. But he ignored that his real mother had passed away years ago and had been substituted by her identical twin , who in turn had fled from killing her lover in Singapore.
But those are the ways of the world. Some do the killing and some do the dying.
